Meet our Leadership Team
President & CEO
Reier Thompson has been President and CEO of Missouri Slope since 2013. Reier holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary, and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Mary. Reier is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) in North Dakota and a Health Services Executive (HSE). He is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, North Dakota Long Term Care Association (NDLTCA), Bismarck Kiwanis Club, and the Bismarck/Mandan Young Professionals Network.
Vice President & CFO
Jeff Wanek has 35 years of experience working in the senior living market. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of North Dakota. He began his role at Missouri Slope in 1995. Prior experiences include work in acute and primary care settings.
Vice President of Resident Services
LeAnn Hokanson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Mary. She worked as a staff RN and then in a leadership role in an acute care hospital on a medical/oncology unit for 15 years prior to beginning her career in long term care at Missouri Slope in 2016. She is board certified in geriatrics and is a member of the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration (NADONA), including long-term care’s North Dakota chapter.
Director of Pastoral Care
Pastor Larry Giese has been at Missouri Slope since 2016. He has been an ordained pastor with the American Lutheran Church (ALC) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for 33 years. He holds a Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts from St. Mary’s University. Pastor Larry has a Certificate of Endorsement for Specialized Pastoral Care and Clinical Education and an ELCA Endorsement. He is a member of the ND Chaplain’s Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
Director of Maintenance
Ryan Bailey has been with Missouri Slope since 1979. Ryan is a member of the North Dakota Environmental Services Association (NDESA).
Director of Environmental Services
Vicki Butler has been at Missouri Slope since 1982. She started in the Nutritional Services Department before transitioning to the Laundry Department, where she worked until 1994, when she became the Director of Environmental Services. Vicki is a Member of CenDak Safety Association and North Dakota Environmental Services Association.
Director of Nutritional Services
Jayne Hovland has been at Missouri Slope since 1995. Jayne holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota and has more than 35 years of experience working in long-term care, including two years as a state surveyor. Jayne is registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (Registered Dietician), and licensed in North Dakota (Licensed Regsitered Dietician).
Director of Human Resources
Mellissa Nordsven holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership, and is Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certified. With over 8 years of experience in human resources in a nonprofit healthcare setting, she joined the leadership team at Missouri Slope in 2017. She holds membership in both the Society for Human Resource Management as well as the Central Dakota Human Resource Association.
Director of Assisted Living
Kaitlyn Green has more than 10 years of experience working in the social work field, primarily in the healthcare and long term care settings. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. Kaitlyn began as a social worker at Missouri Slope in 2012, transitioned to the Director of Social Services in 2013 and to the Director of Assisted Living in 2017.
Catherine (Cathy) Anhalt joined the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Foundation in 2021. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northern State University. She has worked primarily in the nonprofit sector in marketing, development, and administration. She also worked for the American Cancer Society, Medcenter One and St. Gabriel’s Community Foundations, and most recently was employed in Business Development for Sanford Home Care and Hospice.
